BAND HISTORY
Hungerford has had a community band for over 130 years performing at important local events. The earliest remembered event was playing at Hungerford Railway Station welcoming the troops back from the Second World War.
The record shows that the involvement of local youngsters in the band has been significant for many years. In 1977, the Hungerford Youth band was selected to lead a parade at Windsor Great Park in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. The importance of youth involvement in the band remains a constant and forms a fundamental aspect of its constitution.
During the tenure of the current Musical Director, Tim Crouter, the band had released two CD recordings and has qualified for the National Finals 5 times, the most recent of which was 2023.
The band is in great demand and has a reputation for presenting excellent concerts.
